One policy, four readers: why role-based policies work
A manager and a care assistant need different things from the same document.
A falls policy has to serve a registered manager, a senior carer, a care assistant and a new starter. Written once for all of them, it serves none of them well.
Shape the policy to the reader
Role-based policies keep the same standard but change what each person sees first. A care assistant gets the steps to follow. A manager gets the responsibilities, the reporting and the review cycle.
The result is a policy people finish reading, and remember.
